HELLO

We've got a huge ton of stuff for you in this month's newsletter, so no time to faff around with introductions today!

There's new career breaks, loads of free stuff, competitions, new blog posts and all our usual features including video, pics and tips. So stop what you're doing*, put your feet up, and have a read.

SPONSORED: RALEIGH INTERNATIONAL

Looking for something exciting and worthwhile during your career break? Career Break Site-approved development charity Raleigh International needs passionate and adventurous individuals to volunteer on its September expeditions.

You could spend 13 weeks in Borneo, Costa Rica & Nicaragua, or Tanzania as a Logistics Coordinator, supporting community, environment & adventure projects. No previous logistics experience is necessary but you will need to be organised! If that doesn't suit, Raleigh also have a volunteer opportunity for communications officers in Borneo.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to responsible, sustainable development projects whilst having a truly rewarding career break.

Find out more about these international volunteer opportunities.

ON THE BLOG

Our favourite travel blogs is a round-up of... well, the clue's in the title. Some great sources of travel advice and inspiration in these.

The top 20 stopovers for cheap multi-city flights was an infogrpahic we nicked off a company who organises them. It also tells you how to plan your multi-stop trip!

Serious post of the month is titled  "Is this the real reason you haven't taken a career break?" The answer may well surprise you (cos it's not that obvious) and if you're stuck, will hopefully get you started on your plans.

And fun post of the month is 13 things I don't miss about England when I go travelling.

ELSEWHERE ON THE INTERWEB

This is actually "elsewhere in real life", ie a print publication, but they let us post it on our blog so we could share it with you lot. First Fit is a popular Dubai-based magazine who interviewed us for our top 5 volunteering projects, plus some career break tips! You can see it on our blog, or click here to go straight to the pdf download.

COMPETITION CORNER

Win a £20,000 trip of a lifetime with Fatface - you can create your own adventure with this competition

Win a £5,000 family holiday with Homeaway (you need kids to enter this)

PHOTO CORNER - YOUR MONTHLY DOSE OF INSPIRATION

Our chum Matt Long, who runs Landlopers, brought our attention to his new summer photo series. The theme is 'Great places to escape to' and the places he's chosen are quite diverse. The pics are beautiful too.

VIDEO CORNER

In case you haven't seen it yet - THAT video of the surfer getting attacked by a shark (SFW, he wasn't hurt, although the shark was!)

TIP OF THE MONTH

Saving up for your big trip? A lot of budget advice says to only carry cash - but the other way is to only carry cards. This stops you making little impulse purchases like a vending machine packet of crisps, a newspaper or a double skinny grande mocha latte.

USEFUL THING OF THE MONTH

Tag on Map - it lets you create your own themed maps that you can share with your friends. Like Google maps but usefullerer.

JOKE

The comedian who threw banknotes over Sepp Blatter has found his prank has backfired, as he's now hosting the next World Cup in his back garden.

FINALLY

If you're reading this, you'll know that we're passionate about career breaks and long term travel. And we know you are too! So help us get the word out by forwarding this to a travel-loving friend. And if this has been forwarded to you, you can sign up for the newsletter here. It comes out once a month and your email address is safe as houses.

Until next time,

Love,

The Career Break Site
