HELLO
The England football team might be going home after just a few short weeks - but you can do better! With the right planning, your career break can last months, or even years - and you can come back with your head held high.
To help you, in today's newsletter we have our usual round-up of info and inspiration, plus a feature from our sponsor on affordable travel, stacks of shiny new career breaks, handy links - and don't miss the online event we're taking part in! Read on for all the deets:
SPONSORED FEATURE - HOUSESIT MATCH
HouseSit Match is an awesome service which can make your career break all the more affordable! It lists places around the world you can housesit, getting free accommodation in return for looking after the house, watering the plants, feeding the cat, walking the dog, etc. These aren't your average run-of-the-mill gaffs either - you could end up staying in a beach house in Australia!
And if you're going away? You can get a free housesitter through the same scheme. While you're off on your career break, a responsible housesitter will be taking care of your home - and it means you can leave your pets in safe hands too.
This is the share economy in action! Visit HouseSit Match for more info, and to register.
NEW AND UPDATED CAREER BREAKS
We've got stacks of new and updated career breaks at the moment and you can find them all here.
PHOTO CORNER - YOUR MONTHLY DOSE OF INSPIRATION
Eerie photos of abandoned buildings in the desert.
VIDEO CORNER
A gap year in 4 minutes - a montage of one woman's world trip, giving you a good idea of the amount of stuff you can see and do in a year!

ELSEWHERE ON THE INTERWEB
Why taking a career break is good for you (we didn't write this but we are quoted in it!)
If you'd like a post about career breaks, long term travel, volunteering or anything else to do with sabbaticals, email info@thecareerbreaksite.com.
TIP OF THE MONTH
Telling you to leave plenty of time to get your passport will cut a bit too close to the bone for some of our readers this month, so we'll go with shoe bags instead. Take cheap cotton or polyester reusable drawstring bags to pack your shoes in - they're better for the environment, will last longer, and unlike plastic bags, won't crackle noisily and wake the rest of your dorm up when you're packing for an early flight.
If you have a tip for us, email info@thecareerbreaksite.com - we will credit you unless you want to stay anonymous.
USEFUL THING OF THE MONTH
Planning to work abroad? The Xpatulator can help you work out whether you'll be paid more or less than you earn here. Remember though, the cost of living is much lower in some countries as well.
JOKE
"The world cup is entering it's final stages."
Said Roy Hodgson about ten days ago.
AND FINALLY - AN EXCITING **FREE** EVENT!
We're taking part in a live online debate! It's about the security and affordability of housesitting, and there's going to be lots of other travel experts there too. It's FREE but you need to register - email Events@housesitmatch.com to book your place.
It's on Wednesday, 9 July 2014 at 6:30pm.
If you're interested in getting a housesitter, or being a housesitter, on your career break, this is an event you can't miss! Make sure you're following us on Twitter or Facebook so you can get all the info you need (and reminders) - and we'll see you there!
Until next time, enjoy whichever sport you're watching (even if that's none at all) and we'll see you at the end of July.
Love,
The Career Break Site
