L’Arche Highland is a community of more than 100 people with and without learning disabilities. People here live, work and celebrate together, and have been based in the Highlands of Scotland near Loch Ness for over 40 years.
As a volunteer assistant, you and the team will help to support 20 people at home with learning disabilities, providing registered care at home and in supported housing. The community currently has 3 houses and are building a fourth. you will also help in the specialist day services where workshops offer craft, woodwork, candle making and life skills.
Volunteer live-in assistants provide individual and social support of people with learning disabilities, enabling them to become more independent in areas such as personal hygiene, dress, health needs. You will help with your clients' leisure, social, practical and spiritual needs, helping to nurture their ability to make choices and decisions. Full training is given, as is supervision and time for reflection. You will find yourself transformed by the experience!
