Travelling is all about making friends. That's why, even when you really want to know something, you'll bite your tongue. Here are the 10 questions you really want to ask, but never do.

  1. Do you fancy me?
Because I fancy you and I wish I had the guts to do something about it.
  2. Do you fancy me?
Because I don't fancy you and I've got a feeling that things are about to get terribly, terribly awkward.
  3. Don't you think you're a bit old to be...
Still thinking your band is going to 'make it'; drinking 10 glasses of what the waiter amusingly called 'whisky' and then being sick on your way back to the guest house; trying to pull that girl?
  4. How on earth can you be a surgeon / hedge fund manager / rocket scientist back in real life
When you can barely catch a bus without me holding your hand?
  5. Why the hell did you bring so much stuff?
Although I would quite like to use this gadget, and that bottle of shampoo, and oooh, what a great hat!
  6. How on earth did a guy like you end up with a girl like that?
    Seriously, how?
  7. Why haven't you friended me on Facebook
When you've friended everyone else on our volunteer project / tour bus / boat / course?
  8. Do you ever shut up?
My patience expired about 3 'hilarious' anecdotes ago.
  9. Are you being weird
Or is everyone from your country like that and I don't know because I've never even heard of it?

    And finally...

  10. [Sniff] Was that you?
And if it wasn't, I hope you don't think it was me.
